has never seen anything besides windows? Preference to those that are packages for well-known distros like Debian / Fedora / Arch.

Apart from KDE, Cinnamon and XFCE. You could set up Mint Cinnamon for them, considering the defaults are fine enough for someone coming from Windows, but some here don't suggest Mint/Ubuntu...
Kde plasma is the best DE you can try Even better than Windows
I don't like Cinnamon nor xfce Their support is slow, and they have some bugs
hey, it's not like these DEs exist in a specific distro only. As long as they are in the repos of original distros, you can have them anywhere. I personally tend to avoid most "derivative" distros for a reason.
I suggest mint cinnamon It has got feel of windows menu
Cinnamon and KDE I would suggest budgie too ( bit not for native windows users)
