Ok. For Ubuntu, you can access in settings-> networking , the settings of your internet connection. Tell me if you find the "IPv4" section

if you don't want to waste time, just run a periodic IP range scan, and look for PC/server that listen to port 22. update your /etc/hosts with that

local scan is just using nmap, no need to connect to Internet
