You should relearn networking. If you want to allow only single IP, the subnet is /32. If you put an IP and a subnet of /24 , the whole /24 range of that IP will be allowed
Am just wondering why my ip address always use /24 and not /32
Because of DHCP server
Subnet mask tells you what part of IP address is the network and what part is the host address inside this network. Apparently in this case it is used for slightly different (although really the same) purpose: to specify a range of IPs.
So if i have static ip i can use /32
Yeah man you can do whatever you wish! You can also assign a reservation in your DHCP server via MAC Address to give that one machine a /32 iirc
you'd need to assign a new range
why do you want /32? there's no usable addresses
if you only want a single ip, it's a /30
there are no usable addresses on a /32 space
I get what you mean but /32 is right in this example
Its because i never new i would one day need to use /32 which i just used today
I used it from this scenario👆👆
There are others also like /8 and /16 which i dont know whether i will need them any soon
Yes. Those netmask lol.
What is this
If you use 192.168.122.107/24 , you actually allow any IP from 192.168.122.1 until 192.168.122.254 to access your server
that would be if you use 192.168.122.0/24, no?
