ffmpeg -i MP4_20200522_091326.mp4 -filter:a "volume=5" MP4_20200522_091326_2.mp4 I seem to get ffmpeg to mention how it's duplicating a lot of frames. At first it was "more than 1000" which I landed on https://video.stackexchange.com/questions/20958/ffmpeg-dropping-duplicate-frames for. Now at around 8k frames in it seems like roughly 5k have been duplicated. Is this normal? I mean the input and output format is the same and only the audio stream has to be amplified, so duplication of the video stream would be desirable I guess? It's just confusing me so much. Additionally the input stream being at 800-odd MB for a 10-minute-ish video compared to the output at 2.5minutes in now being 114MB large seems to match up, giving some space savings too...
Output file is at ghnou.su/files/2020-05-22-ToramOnline.mp4 and please be aware that it takes a good CPU/GPU to play it.. but damn I sure learned a lot from this, bitrate and everything.. my screen recorder recorded at 6.8Mbps and I can clearly see image buildup in scenes that changed significantly. Additionally since my screen recorder (ScreenCam, OSS btw) recorded the system sound it could be amplified 5x without any noise floor issues. Pretty cool!
