people's situations are different, what you are calling "save up" in some countries is massacre

Unless you're at the point where RAM for the old motherboard wouldn't work with newer motherboards, that's OK. You can upgrade the RAM now and put it into a new motherboard when you think it's time. The only thing to keep in mind is again compatibility issues. Have to research both old and new (specific!) hardware to find the perfect upgrade that would work with both.
