Look. They used a format which you can filter exactly like you wanted. They found binary is faster than sqlite, or any other sql-compatible implementation. Or maybe they didnt want to bind themselves to sqlite. Whatever the reason, it wont become sql, its useful as-is, and if you have a problem with it rsyslog forwarding to an arbitray receiver of your choice is available.
