Martin wimpress (hired to develop unity 7 & 8 before it was killed off and he went to MATE), recently conducted a poll to ask users if they wanted their default layouts switched. They voted no. He went ahead and switched it anyways, without one single announcement, ans screamed at users for noticing and questioning him.
And then there is the snap malware. Canonical says it's legal for apps on their store to snoop on users. Would @popeydc (snap maintainer and shill) allow that to run on his device? Would mark? Would you, heck?
On top of it all, canonical wants the users to vet snap apps which they include by default on their LTS release.
