Wtf? Now i added set -g pane-border-format "#{pane_index} #{pane_current_command}" to the ~/.tmux.conf and

when i just create a window (prefix+c) i still have the anoying long name but when i split a window (prefix+%) and break the pane (prefix+!) the pane has the short name i want...

btw. now i know why tmux is so different on the different distros... on debian based it's only version 1.9 it seems and on fedora it's 2.5 (latest is 2.7)... and it seems like they changed a lot in the config...
