have the support it needed. Or is it? By it being free software it didn't cost anything to use except time and people spend time on arch, gentoo and linux from scratch so why not apricity?
Surviving in FOSS isn't as easy at it may look. Consider this. They maintained and provided the software for free. This must require core team members spending significant amount of time on the software without any minatory gain. In addition there are other costs like hosting cost for the Site and the Repos, not to mention the free unlimited space for the freezdry feature. These teams initially solely survive on reserve funds and donations. Reserve funds eventually run out. And since most people who use FOSS have very little money to spare. If the community picks of the software and it becomes popular and a lot of people use them or know about them then they get enough donations to survive. If they are lucky they may also get sponsors. But sadly most people are herd followers and are not open to trying new things. Result! Good initiatives don't get the support and following they need. This has caused demise of a lot of good software.
