why ppl love ubuntu so much? isnt fedora/centos like systems more secure and optimized?
i use linux mint which is based on ubuntu because most of the software for Linux is available on ubuntu. for other distributions you may need to jump some hoops, compiling or doing other stuff. this may not be true as of today, but it is very true a few years back
ubuntu was the first super easy-to-use distro, so it got hella popular.
Because it's easy to use and well supported... But linux "experts" don't really use ubuntu.. Ubuntu is really just a jumping dock for the linux world... If you give a newbie a CentOS or Fedora box, it would be a pain for them to use for the first time. But linux "pros" not tend to using ubuntu
and what about opensuse? Awesome system for me.
