CentOS was bought and killed by RHEL. It reached the end of life on December 31st, 2021. The CentOS Stream you see is virtually a testing distro now, and its users are the lab rats. That's why CentOS is dead, though it had a good run. There are some alternatives to it though, so the CentOS philosophy count continue on after it's dead: Rocky Linux and Alma Linux. However, I personally see no point in investing in brand-new distros with an uncertain future when it comes to servers.
> testing distro > lab rats Lies. If you specifically want a free (as in money) version of RHEL but also a bit older, sure, Stream is not for you. Just don't pretend it's somehow of bad quality.
