a Data Scientist, would you need to have a degree in the field you're working in? For example if the company has to do with something medical, do you need to have had med school of some sorts?
That probably depends on 1) The company 2) The country 3) Specific field
I've worked as a data scientist in finance and in logistics. My degree is in physics, and I've never faced any issues with that. There will definitely be roles out there that want experience/credentials in their particular field, but my experience has been that most are more interested in your ability as a data scientist.
Oh that gives me some hope, thank you!!
nah. for medical what you'll need is familiarity with compliance and security standards like HIPAA
Okay, that actually sounds logical. Thanks! And what about scientific research? Do scientists learn data science so they can do everything on their own/within their own team or do they also work together with data scientists with no specific background in the research field?
