If you use snap, you are tied to canonical's proprietary ecosystem, you can only ever install the latest snap version, and you are at mercy of what canonical decides to do. I give it 3 years before you have paid snaps with security updates or whatever.
Hmm, I always do apt remove --purge snapd when I install Ubuntu.
next step: apt as snap
That's been there for like 2 years already, apt install firefox makes snap hijack your query, for example.
but this doesn't break when you remove snapd, until now...
