and Paypal. I set a list in my /etc/hosts and might set other things as well that I don't remember, but in my old Ubuntu machine, I could open these blocked websites. I recently switch to a new Ubuntu machine, and even though I copied the content of hosts file, I am still blocked in some websites. I want to replicate the settings in my old machine, but I don't remember what else I had changed. In terms of networking settings, where to navigate from here ? Which settings should I checked ?
Why would they block paypal?
we have our own stupid digital wallet that the government "recommend" to use
Have you tried checking the copied hosts file permission and ownership.
Curious. May I know what the "recommended government digital wallet" is? It's not some crypto wallet is it?
No, not crypto. it's just a common digital wallet that is in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy. And my office is partly a government institution, that's why.
wait, ok I'll check this
May I know what its called?
I don't think that after the correct permission and ownership, it will be helpful. Much of it depends on the type of firewall used by your company. If the sites are currently running on old machines, consider replicating the settings; otherwise, I would recommend using a VPN.
yeah, actually I also dont think this is it. I didnt change the original permission when I added the list. I put some lists for Reddit and Steam, as of now I can open Reddit but not Steam.
Share your host file
ofc I can always use a VPN, then I wouldn't ask here. VPN is not my goal. I would like to replicate my old settings only. thanks though
So, what is the name of digital wallet called? I haven’t listened one government ask people use their own wallet forcibly
