compiled, so I don't need docker for building. just for auto start on boot, logs, etc..
What are you trying to achieve?
you can use Systemd or Supervisord for this type of light weight apps
Autoboot. logs. auto restart. without the hassle of docker and heavy images
So effectively a SystemD service
I hate systemd
You'll have brilliant career as devops
So let me get this straight, you think containers are overkill and too "heavy" and your dislike SystemD?
Overkill in certain cases when you working on compiled programs. systemd is bad cause it's ugly config system
When people use arguments with ugly in them, you know they are real
I mean "ugly" is not an argument.
Your alternatives are even worse... Pm2, monit, runit, supervisord...
Finally someone answer the question. thanks
So better become a modern artist
Containers are useful because there's a lot of options to orchestrate them. Running a single instance of an app in a container on a server is equivalent of letting systemd do it for you.
Systemd is overhated imo, sure it's got flaws but it's pretty good all things considered, for sure better than SysV
Sorry lol i don't get it tho, nothing against those who do
it works, so I am fine with it
