cleaning lady has been asking me to buy a vacuum cleaner for a while now (which I don't really want to, brooms work just fine) but told her that I could probably cobble something together for her with one of my motors. The one that I want to use is one that came out of a vacuum cleaner anyway, but I didn't like because it ran a bit hot to my liking. So probably I'd underrun it by 10-20V by wiring some transformer from an old outlet as an autotransformer, wiring some additional fan with it in series to make an inductive voltage divider or something like that. To which she replied, "if that electrocutes me, my 2m tall son will come pay you a visit and there'd probably not be much left of you afterwards". I understand that she (a woman in her late 50s) doesn't trust me despite seeing my lab every week, but I found that quite threatening. Saying "I'm not comfortable with that" could've worked just fine... From an electronics hacker's standpoint, what would you do in such a scenario?
I'd be much more rude than her if it was me in that situation.
