it seems, but not always covered in resin.. not sure if that's good for longevity, an 800W single phase AC motor from a vacuum cleaner I disassembled this morning doesn't have them either - which actually is the reason why I need a step-down transformer, preferably some makeshift autotransformer from a 24V step-down transfo where you just tie the primary and secondary together, but I can't seem to find them in anything but 12V variants, and that wouldn't be sufficient I think. On 230VAC it got quite hot after a while, even with its cooling blades inside the unit. Without them.. eh, I doubt that it'll be happy with anything but something around 200. But high power transformers are pretty expensive even when it's just a 24V one which can drive a couple of amps.. hence why I started looking at the modularity of a transformer which I can rewind the secondary to meet the demands any project at hand that's within its power rating.
