there are many hidden doors for manipulation and usualy performance does not play nice with security, the way you config your kernel, tune the compiler for each program and the way you config your programs makes a lot changes and you can't control many stuffs especially stuffs beyound your operating system. sometimes in binary distros some packagers/maintainers tries to take advantage of something without malicious purposes (lets be positive) or sometimes there are legacy code and old stuffs but a binary distro needs to think about being portable for not just you but many other systems and old programs so sadly makes oportunities, etc etc etc. lets keep it as much as this. we usualy just trust or just accept. the other option is spending a lot time and do as much as possible yourself
