And my desktop has Kali installed, when I started it

at one time, it told me am running on low graphics mode, got really pissed off about it ..... How can I go abt such a problem?thanks.

Hey it looks like you're asking a question about Kali linux(or another pentesting distro)! If you're stuck with basic setup on such distribution, then it is very likely not for you, read the sticky and use a regular distribution! If you're asking about your pentesting distribution INSTALL, then you definitely should not be using one. Those distributions are meant to be live booted, or at the very least reside in a VM.

First of all, Don't use kali like your main OS, Second, You need to install graphics drivers.
