Do I need it? Sometimes yes, even now. String manipulation, host files interaction, methods for EVERYTHING, integration with EVERYTHING. It's very convenient that (for instance) I can mix up together an ansible function with a CDK template and they can pass objects each other without using custom modules or weird "escape to the shell" methods
Yes because the infrastructure may need external dependencies that themselves have dependencies
