am frantically searching the internet for something good, but can't quite find anything that will make me understand

Out of curiosity, could you elaborate on why you believe BLE to be bad? In the comments under the video I was only able to find this for criticism against it.

I tried to understand BT some years ago and I've found that is a super complicated mess of thing built on top of thing with other things added. I think it's a really complicated communication protocol and lots of companies added custom stuff over the years that had to be integrated in all the different devices, making the numerous dev libraries super full of all the different (and mostly niche and useless) drivers
