lot of browser tabs (Brave, Firefox), how do I prevent and solve that issue?
I opened a highly important private tabs in Brave (Maybe 25+) with a Telegram app (with a stage call opened) and YouTube (Brave installed window).
open terminal, type free -m, and then post the output here
itzvoko@debian12:~$ free -h total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 7.5Gi 5.0Gi 763Mi 724Mi 2.8Gi 2.6Gi Swap: 976Mi 0B 976Mi itzvoko@debian12:~$ free -m total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 7724 5097 770 718 2853 2627 Swap: 976 0 976
btw swap size should be more than physical memory size. The current 976Mi swap is not enough at all. Increase it too.
Isn't the current swap size unsuitable? Of course more RAM is needed. Increasing swap size can also fix the problem.
YEs and yes, but he likely has issues procuring DDR2 memory or some other potato PC issue
Why? and how do I do that?

swap = ram + 2GB
Desktop; RAM * 2
swap = ram < 2GB ? ram * 2 : ram + 2GB Do you mean this?
No; If desktop swap = ram * 2 else swap = ram * 0.5
It's nonsense, and you need more RAM, not more swap.
There's nothing to correct, if he does not need hibernation, he can completely remove it. Provided he gets enough RAM.
Then he risks sudden crashes. You can decrease swappiness to a less agressive value, but you should not avoid swapping. While there's reason for having swap, there's no reason for not having swap, imho.
Not if you have enough RAM.
Unless it's a server; disable that shit, let it OOM and monitor that shit
Tab hoarding is a mental health issue: https://amplifyingcognition.com/i-want-you-to-stop-what-youre-doing-and-count-the-number-of-browser-tabs-you-have-open/
it's not, even I have like 1k tabs
I never opened more than 5 (maybe 10 on bad days) tabs in my life
IIRC the last time I had 10 tabs opened it was 15 years ago
I have more pinned tabs than I saw most people have regular open tabs
I really don't get Tab hoarding, I close all the tabs I don't need almost immediately.
do we need to have political statements in here?
Yeah, but swapping is free. 🫠
Yep, but swapping doesn't require money… 🫠
Thanks! That exactly was I was missing.
How? Like what do you do when wanting to read some articles later?
Isn't that for things that I usually visit, not one time visit? 😅
It doesn't have to be, bookmark...visit at some point. Delete bookmark
That's really hard actually... Do you have some shortcut to access it easily?
I'll try to, anyway. Thank you.
(I remembered `CTRL + B` Firefox shortcut)
This is not the time or place for it
Please message me in private, so I can clarify little things for you. (I don't think it's allowed to speak here, even if i was right)
Txt file
Multiple ways. I have use Blogspot, Google Keep, Github, etc. No need to tab hoard
Imo, that would kind of only be moving the problem from one place to another, now instead of tabs or bookmarks, I have ~800 links saved across multiple txt files
Old RAM in this amount is dirt cheap
try zram
don't tell me to "stop it". I asked a polite question. This is a Linux forum, not somewhere to see "FREE PALESTINE" shouting at you every day.
Well, they didn't talk about it, they just changed their username…
no, sure but every post they make has "FREE PALESTINE" in block caps. Unprofessional, if you ask me
So when someone fill his name with a rainbow flag and "stuff", no one speaks, right? I'm not gonna talk about Palestine and what happens against it here; because I probably will be blocked or reported by some haters and others, so please learn about what happen.
By the way, you can block me if what's really bothering you is just a set of letters and not another reason.
pretty naive to say "a set of letters". But let's agree to disagree
