high load of historical data, even with downsampling, we are talking about getting data from S3 buckets which can be quite slow and cumbersome.
Right?
So why people still resist using m3db as prometheus storage?
Because very few people exceed 100Gbps or perceive that as slow
You must be using a cutting edge SAN storage :)
No, just S3 that's set up according to AWS best practices
Lucky you. We must stick into old private data center bs. No cloud infrastructure is allowrd
Middle east / Africa?
Africans can use it though, definitely ME
I'd say I've been able to use the cloud for some ME customers, but never for Africans, mostly due to data sovereign policies
Hey Viking, come to RSA and you will be surprised to see how many companies are on the cloud. All Telco and banks are on Aws or azure.
I work for telco and banking. It might be many are on the cloud, as many of my customers are, but as I was saying I'm surprised by the number that aren't there, due to data sovereign regulation.
Now how many of them actually do it right vs doing a box checking exercise
