Huh, i thought the registry connects to s3 minio, what

would be the point of also having the registry running then? it's just a forwarder of sorts and deals with auth?

could be. can try to check the source code if the registry is open source. logically, I would agree that the pushing from laptop to S3 is direct, as that will simplify the registry code and don't have to know every type of storage out there. and yes, you can do HTTP POST to S3: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/API/sigv4-post-example.html
