Question

I'M using virtualbox with a guess in host only network,

and I'm using the host as a router for routing all guest traffic, for some reason all dhcp client packets from guest are getting dropped, do you have any advice? I'm trying to put rules to allow them but it seems it doesn't work

Promiscuous mode is when you set a network device to listen to all packets, even ones that aren't addressed to its MAC

It's an interface-level feature. If you are using virtual interfaces, VirtualBox should give you the option to switch it on somewhere. It should be in the same place as enabling or disabling jumbo packets, or changing the uplink speed
