"XX years ago" instead of "since YYYY".
Example:
"YouTube was launched in 2005."
"YouTube was launched 17 years ago."
Does "ago" make it sound the company is much mature or older?
If you want to emphasize on the time duration, 17 years is fine imo
If you want to show how old your company is, obviously go with XX years ago. Because it shows the age. Most people do not have the time to calculate time when you simply write a date
Temporal illusions also play a role so 2005 may seem recent even though it's nearly 2 decades
this is the exact reason I had to ask this question.
Well you could just combine the two, Facebook was founded 17 years ago, in 2005
using both defeats the purpose of bringing illusion
What is it you exactly want to do?
